250 Years Ago . . .
In lieu of my regular posts (due to all the work projects we've been up to our necks with) and just in time for America's 250th Birthday Celebration, I am pleased to share a special project that has been near and dear to my heart for several months now. I put together little snippets of all of my known ancestors who had some role or another during the Revolutionary War. Some were pacifists and didn't want to fight because of their religious beliefs. Some chose to fight anyway, even if it meant being excommunicated from their congregation and having to deal with being ostracized from their friends and neighbors. Some fought on the Naval front. Some fought in the South Carolina swamps, just like Mel Gibson's character in the movie, "The Patriot". His character was based on 3 key figures during the Revolutionary War: Francis Marion ("The Swamp Fox"), Daniel Morgan, Thomas Sumter, and Andrew Pickens.
